Vinometer 0-25% Vol.
Quickly and easily determine the alcohol content in fermented wines and juices.
With white-backed scale in 1% increments.
Length: 12.5 cm
Material: Glass
Vinometer Instructions:
Pour a small amount to of the wine to be measured into the funnel.
The liquid column must not be interrupted by air bubbles or dirt
! As soon as the first droplets drip from the pointed end
, close the lower opening with your finger. Then turn
the measuring instrument over and place it on the table with the funnel opening facing down
. Remove your finger from the opening, the liquid in the
capillary tube will sink quickly and when stopped will give the alcohol content in
percent by volume.
The accuracy of the measurement depends on the cleanliness of the tube, the residual sugar
content of the wine being measured, the temperature, etc. ( sweet wines
give an erroneous measurement more quickly and therefore must be diluted).
Example
mix 10ml of wine with 10ml of water and then measure.
The value obtained, e.g. 6 is multiplied by 2.
The alcohol content is then 12.
Conversion from percent by volume to percent by weight:
1 volume percent = 0.8 weight percent = 8g alcohol per liter
So: a wine with 15°C (=volume percent) contains 120g alcohol per
liter of wine.
